An expert?

by joebangles @ 13/09/2007 - 21:52:40

Listening to the radio today and an interview with , we were told, an expert, regarding the spread of foot and mouth disease,

Interviewer, "How would the virus spread the six miles to Egham"

Expert, "Possibly a contractors lorry left the site at the laboratory and picked up a bit of contaminated mud on it's wheels and then when driving through Egham, the bit of mud dropped off on to the road. A passing vehicle picked up the bit of mud on it's wheels and then drove into the farm".

Yes, it's possible, but so would be my explanation that a flying pink elephant landed at the laboratory prior to flying off to Egham where it landed in the farm.

What is an "expert? What qualifications are there for the job? I can give improbable possible answers, Does that make me an "expert"

England or Scotland ?

by joebangles @ 13/09/2007 - 00:04:46

Thirty per cent of my life was spent in the place of my birth, England, but, 70 per cent has been spent in Scotland, even so, I am very proud of being English and would support the national team at all times.

The quandary is, football. Would it be better to support Scotland? It's certainly easier, with the low expectation of winning a match, when they do, the joy is great, if they lose, well, sorta expected that.

The trouble is that we English expect our team to win, to win everything going, and we feel very let down when they dont.

I'll sleep on it.
