C'mon ladies, help us fellas.

Sounds like I am in the front line in Afganistan with the bangs from the fireworks, but reminds me of the days when three sons would stare out of the window, waiting for me to come home from work to light our box of fireworks.

Been a busy day, drove 70 miles to buy an item from an antiques place, and that's where the title of this post comes from.

Last Wednesday Hazel and I went for our normal drive about and discovered this antique place, whilst wandering around she came across this item that she liked, the owner opened up the show case and Haze handled it and admired it, "I'll think about it, it's a bit more than I want to pay", she said.

I decided that I would buy it for her birthday, it's next Monday, but I didn't want her to know, she thinks that I am getting the latest perfume by Guerlain for her, would she leave my side and give me a chance, would she hell, so that's why I made the journey today.

My letter was selected as the "Letter of the day" in the Scottish Sunday Express and I have won a bottle of whisky, it hasn't arrived yet but when it does I will invite all my friends to a virtual drink.

I'd be well-chuffed with that (Letter of the day, not too hot on whisky, less it's in an Irish Coffee) Well done and enjoy it. No doubt you've kept the paper/cut it out? Have you posted it here? I've not had a good run at this till today so I've missed loads. Hope you're well, cheers for now jb, like to see the letter!

Hi chassy, It's my hobby writing to newspapers, I know, I'm a saddo, yes, it's been cut out and Hazel will put it with the other couple of hundred that she has kept, I think that she is going to publish them as "Rants of a stupid old man". I found out that I was a bit of a celebrity at the local pub where one of my daughters in law is the manageress and they pin them up on the wall of the pub, I think they then throw darts at them, my current series of letters are mostly attacks on Alex Salmon and the SNP, mainly because they promised to change the council tax system and they are doing nothing, to be very honest, I didn't actually vote for them in the first place.

Really strange firework's night tonight...huge bangs and whizzes and not a single firework in sight??? Haven't the faintest notion why we couldn't see them this year, but we couldn't...usually we stand at the top of the house and watch them going off in Bournemouth and Poole, but not this year...think they must have put a curtain up in the sky so us freebies couldn't see it :)) Nice thought as well buying Hazel the item she liked...hope she appreciates it...big hugs...and I'm with Chassy...whisky's not my drink I'm afraid but will happily join you if you have bottle of Bacardi or Southern Comfort LOL...and congrats on the winning letter...big hugs...

"....usually we stand at the top of the house and watch them going off in Bournemouth and Poole, but not this year...think they must have put a curtain up in the sky so us freebies couldn't see it...".

Typical of councils nowadays, is it a Labour council now?

For you and chassy, it's a virtual drink of anything that you fancy, on me.

Hugs back.

No, Conservative...think it was Liberal, but changed hands last time round...Labour would have had a real rip snorting celebration and it would have cost an arm and a leg...the Cons tell you to buy your own, you're not sharing ours HLOL...big hugs...and night night..:)

Uhm, wish your lady many happy returns, and congratulate her for being born under the best star sign going. November is a lovely time of year, for me at least, beautiful autumn days and presents too!
