Three "R"S, No, FOUR.

by joebangles @ 23/11/2007 - 13:01:20

Inflation seems to be everywhere, maybe it's time that the three Rs, 'reading, 'riting and 'rithmatic became four Rs.

Unfortunately it appears that in the main parents today do not teach their offspring the "R" that is so very important. R for RESPECT.

Respect for other races, other religions, the environment, those in authority positions. Respect for parents, neighbours, and other persons possessions. Respect for politicians, policemen, judges, etc, etc.

Of course, it's up to those that hold these positions to act in a way that will earn the respect of the young.

Will they? Can they?

If only. Trying to work out how to get my sis to give me a dose of respect. She was spoiled too long and still is.

At toddlers I told my two year old not to take a toy another little lad was playing with but to share like he does with his 6 month old brother at home. He went and played with something else, no fuss. The other mothers were absolutely dumbstruck - 'That never happens in our house' one said. Is my boy special? Yes, I think he is but no more than others. It's just my husband and I have taken the time to be with them and to start to teach them both how to act in a 'civillised' world. Why have children if you can't be bothered to spend some time with them? And as my mum always said, 'manners don't cost anything'.

Here Here and Good one you!
Without sounding too patronising, I hope when I have them I have your approach too.

Can they? Will they? From governments to parents, insulting, lying, shouting, grabbing - is it any wonder children don't share?
