It was the week before Christmas, after three visits to the surgery and three different doctors, it was decided, "You need an antibiotic" and, "I think that you should see the practise nurse for a blood test, now" and, " Take this form to the hospital tomorrow and get an x-ray of your chest. I will see you again on the 5th of January for the results, they should be back by then".

Thursday, 2nd January, ring-ring, " This is the health centre, we have your results back, the doctor has looked at them and wants you to come back for further blood tests tomorrow at 9.00am"

"O K, shall I cancel Mondays appointment to give them time to get the results back?"

"No, we will have them back".

Oh aye, What's the rush? My mind goes in to overdrive, I don't feel too bad, usual aches and pains, Should I write my will? I was going to start reading a new book today, 836 pages, Is it worth starting? switch on computer, google "blood", 7 million results ( found in .035 seconds ) Have I got time too read them all? switch off computer.

Monday, 5th January, " Morning doctor", (yet another different one).
Doctor, "How can I help?"
"You could start by telling me the results of a blood test that I had recently"
"Ah, yes, you are anaemic, not enough iron in your blood, take these pills, one, three times a day, book another blood test for a months time, and we will see if that has helped"
"Thank-you doctor"
