Weather Seal. Never deal.

by joebangles @ 09/03/2008 - 00:46:21

You visit your newsagent with your 45p ready in your hand to buy your daily paper and you are told, "That will be £10. today, but, as we have a special offer it is only £5". "Oh, you think that is too dear do you? Well, buy it right now and the cost will be, best we can do, £2". "OK, I have the editor on the 'phone, his special offer is £1."

No, that is not the way to sell papers, it's not the way to sell anything.

"Best price for eight double glazed windows supplied and fitted please Mr WeatherSeal representative" I say.

"£14.900." he says.

"Do I look daft?" I ask.

"£9.700" says he.

"Far too expensive" says I.

"£6.500." Managers special offer just for today.

"Good bye" I said.

It was maybe unfortunate for him that he was accompanied by a young man that had just joined the company that day and starting his career as a salesman.

With a deduction of, so far, £8.400 just how much profit do this company hope to get from us mugs?

Ridiculous!!

My father always taught us that in this life when purchasing pay as little as you can and when selling make as much as you can!!!
So true!

Hi evelyn, yes, I realise that the seller wants to get as large a profit as he can get but this way of doing business is aimed at the older age group that are conned out of their savings by the smarmyness of these salesmen.

Hi Jack, yes, it is a rotten way of doing business aimed at the older age group that have lived through those days when you could trust an established company, as I told the person that followed up with a phone call the next day, "I'm old, not stupid".

Yeah, me too. Wasn't that good a job either.

My brother worked for a company that sold beds, the ones that raise the back and legs, they were told to do it that way. Disgusting.
