I made reference in my last post to my forthcoming car boot sale, http://joebangles.blog.co.uk/2008/09/28/bloody-email-machine-and-car-boot-sale-4793745 it is now over and done.

car boot.

It was very busy, Hazel and I were non stop at it, that is, using a huge sheet of plastic to cover and uncover the tables because of the rain.

I have now done my first and last car boot. We played our part with tables nicely presented with items ranging in price from £200 down to £3, I know that some were a bit pricey for the average Car booter but we were told that the first customers would be the dealers.

Yep, right enough, the first customers were the dealers, they hovered whilst we unpacked and placed the items on the table. Take it from me, these are not dealers, these are sharks looking to con unsuspecting folk from a reasonable price for their goods, had we been mugs we may have considered that a reasonable offer for a 1860 gold perfume bottle, valued at over £250 the day before, was £30.

As for those that were looking for bargains, How come they have all only got £1 in their pocket? A rack with several items from Country Casuals, as new, priced at £3 per item, "I've only got a £1", usually spoken in a pleading voice, I don't buy it. They will now all be going to the local charity shop.

Maybe car boots have had there day, I don't know, but I do know that every thing that we were selling, or, trying to sell was priced very reasonably, they were good bargains, but we were not going to give them away.
